Fourth Sunday of Advent
Advent is a season of endings and beginnings. As the calendar year comes to a close, a new church year begins. Christ’s birth ushers us into new ways of living and loving; and yet, the world as we know it spins madly on. In many ways, pregnant Mary was surrounded by endings—large and small, personal and political. But Mary proclaimed hope in a God who was and is making all things new. Christ’s birth offered a beautiful new beginning for shepherds and Magi alike—all the while, King Herod tried to bring Christ’s story to an end. When we ourselves navigate seasons filled with endings and beginnings, we need reminders. We need words that can feel like steady ground, like a path for our feet to find as we step forward into the unknown.
We invite you to journey with us through this season as we find words together for beginning again. No matter what you are facing & no matter what this new day brings, love is our beginning.
Nursery care is available from 10 am-1 pm!
Advent Services: December 1, 8, 15, 22 @ 11 am // In Person and Online

Longest Night Worship
The holidays are full of joy & excitement – and they can also feel hard and heavy. We set aside a quieter, more reflective time each year around the longest night of the year to come together and worship. If you’re looking for a space to simply be and not have to put on a “happy face” this holiday season, we hope you’ll join us.
The worship service will be located in the Neighborhood Church Sanctuary. Free parking is available in our back lot off of Mell Ave.
Christmas Eve Worship
We are thrilled to get to celebrate Christmas with you on Tuesday, December 24 at 5 pm! Join us as we remember the story of the birth of Christ and the good news of great JOY that is oh-so-needed in our world right now.
All friends & neighbors are welcome, whether you’ve attended any Neighborhood Church events before or not! All of who you are is welcome here. For real.
Free parking is available in our back parking lot off of Mell Ave, as well as on surrounding side streets. Dress is casual – wear what is comfortable for you!
Churchwide Community Conversation
Please hold the time on January 5 and February 2 and plan to join in these church-wide conversations dreaming about what Neighborhood Church chooses to be in the years ahead. These facilitated conversations are designed to help us take concrete steps to organizing ourselves to faithfully serve "this present age" with all of its potential challenges. Each conversation will be different, so we invite you to attend both dates for full participation (but feel free to come to just one or the other if that's all your schedule allows for). Lunch will be provided, so please RSVP for planning purposes!

Justice & Community Circles Meeting
Help Shape Our Justice & Community Work for 2025!

This is your opportunity to:
Reflect on what excites you about our work.
Share where you see opportunities for growth.
Help us understand how to best communicate with and engage you.
Highlight where you feel called to contribute your time and talents.
The survey takes only a few minutes to complete and will directly inform our planning for 2025, ensuring that our programs align with the passions, energy, and needs of our church community. Mark your calendars for our in-person brainstorming session on January 12 from 12:30-3 pm in the Gathering Place. Lunch will be provided.
Thank you for your input—it makes all the difference!

Friendsgiving + Story Slam
Our Friendsgiving Event is coming up this Sunday, November 17 at 6 pm! This is a community-wide event and we'd love for you to be in attendance.
This event has two components - delicious food, and also stories told by you! We'd love to invite you to tell a story, roughly 3-5 minutes long, focused on a theme of "abundance" - take that however you'd like! But: please come even if you don't want to tell a story! And while we call it a "Story Slam" it won't be competitive or aggressive - the idea is to share good food and good stories together in community.
Bring a dish to share, if you can –– let us know what you're bringing so we can fill in the rest. Neighborhood will provide main meats and drinks, so focus on salads, sides, desserts, etc. for your contribution!
GROW:kids
At Neighborhood Church, we want every child to feel loved by God and supported by community. Our children’s ministry provides a space where kids can grow in faith, make friends, and experience God's love through fun and meaningful activities.
GROW:kids is a "right after worship" timeframe (roughly 12:30pm to 2:30pm). We will have lunch, learn more about the Bible through stories, drama, and activities like games and crafts. Each month we will have a different engaging theme - and our hope is that GROW:kids is a safe and fun place for kids roughly in Pre-K through 5th grade.
Come hang out with us from 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM on November 10. We'd love to see your family there! Give us a heads up you’ll be attending here.

Emergency Response Training Interest
We want to be prepared and to help you be ready when the next storm hits our region! We are working with the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) to develop disaster response ministries so that we can be there for our neighbors with hope and healing when the next storm hits. We can best accomplish this goal with education, training and networking during "blue sky" days prior to the next disaster.
Join our email list here – we’ll share information as we work towards preparedness, and maybe you will find a place for your service along with us!
Candler Park Fall Fest
We're excited to hang out with friends & neighbors at Candler Park Fall Fest coming up on October 5-6! In lieu of NeighborFEST like we had originally announced, we'll be hanging out *all weekend*, both at a booth in the artist's market and providing hospitality (bathrooms, diaper changing, etc.) in our building.
Here's how you can help:
-Help get the tent and table set up in the artist market on Saturday morning
-Host at the church, providing directions to the bathroom, restocking mints & menstrual supplies, etc.
-Chat with friends and neighbors at the Neighborhood booth at the artist market on Saturday and Sunday
Consider reaching out to a friend in your GROW group or someone you love to sit with at worship and see if they want to volunteer together. Hanging out at fall fest is more fun in community! We can't wait to see you there!
