General Questions:
Where are you located? We’re in the Candler Park neighborhood in intown Atlanta. You can type “Neighborhood Church Atlanta” or 1561 McLendon Ave NE, Atlanta GA 30306 into your GPS.
Is there parking? Yes! We have a parking lot available to you that can be accessed via Mell Ave. The lot is one way, so please enter from Mell, and exit onto McLendon. There is additional free street parking directly in front of the church.
Is there accessible parking? Yes! We have four accessible spaces - two are located on the street in front of the church. The other two can be accessed by following the parking lot as if you were exiting onto McLendon, and they will be on your left facing the playground.
Can I take MARTA? Of course. We’re located just a few blocks from the Candler Park/Edgewood MARTA station.
My host mentioned coming in through a specific color door. What does that mean? In an effort to make our large building more navigable, we have color coded our doors! Most often, you will be directed to the main silver doors, accessible either from the Mclendon street side of the church, or by following the sidewalk and ramp past the playground, and turning right. In some cases you may be directed - or told to direct members of your group/event attendees - to the orange door, located on the McLendon side of the church, on the first floor. This allows more direct access to the Community Room and Gathering Place.
Do you have water fountains? Yes, there is a water fountain in a central location on each floor, with a water bottle filling station. We encourage you to bring a reusable water bottle for events in our efforts to reduce single-use plastic in our building.
Do you have gender inclusive restrooms? All of our restrooms can be designated as gender inclusive restrooms, by using the signs provided on the inside of each restroom door. Additionally, we have a gender neutral/family size bathroom located on the first floor.
Worship Specific Questions:
What time does worship start? Our weekly worship service begins on Sunday mornings at 11 am and typically wraps up around 12:15 pm. We also have a monthly(ish) evening worship experience called “homecalling” which begins at 7 pm. Check our Happenings page for the next dates for this gathering.
What should I wear? Whatever you’re comfortable in! Most people wear jeans and casual clothes. Our pastors and staff also wear casual clothes.
Can I bring coffee with me in the Sanctuary? Of course! We provide coffee, tea, and snacks in the Neighborhood Commons before worship and you are most welcome to bring all of those items into the Sanctuary with you to enjoy during worship. Feel free to bring your own coffee or snacks, too.
Is there a nursery? We do not have a nursery at this time, but we do have a sensory library full of age-appropriate tools to make children feel comfortable during worship. We have a changing table in the Gender Inclusive/Family Restroom on the lower level. All of your children’s wiggles & giggles are welcome in our worship space.
Will I have to talk or participate in worship at all? No! Although we are eager to get to know more about new neighbors who are visiting in worship, we do not have a time where we ask you to stand up in front of everyone and wave in order to ensure everybody’s boundaries are respected in worship. If you’re coming for the first time, we hope you’ll introduce yourself so we can get to know you at your pace!
Are there any COVID/flu/safety measures currently in place? We don’t have a formal policy right now, but we ask that if you’re feeling under the weather that you would join us via online worship for the safety of everyone in our community. Please feel free to wear a mask if you’re more comfortable. You’ll usually see a few other folks with masks on during worship any given week.
